    Description: Paul Dofoo was born in Calgary in 1916. His father, Louie Dofoo, immigrated to Canada in 1899 and his mother came over in 1912. Paul's mother had bound feet, and his father had a queue hairstyle, that he cut off once in Canada. Both parents were required to pay the Head Tax. Paul went to Central Public School, later called James Short School. He studied and worked in radio, and went to China in 1941 when there was an opportunity for him to work at a radio station. He stayed 8 years, and met his wife, who is a graduate in broadcast journalism of the Central Political Training University. They moved back to Canada in 1949 when the Communists were threatening Nanking. Paul has three daughters and one son, and he retired in 1983. The interview took place in Calgary, Alberta on April 28, 2005 and was conducted by Leonard Lee.

    Description: Theresa Louie was born in Victoria, B.C. on October 14, 1917. Her father, Sam Sue, immigrated from China in 1903, and her mother, Lee Moi, immigrated in 1914. Both parents had to pay a $500 Head Tax, and had to work very hard to pay off their debt. Sam Sue worked as a cook at the Saint Anne Academy Convent, and Lee Moi ran a grocery store. In 1928 the family moved to China, and Theresa dreamed about coming back to Canada. She met her husband, Wah Hoy Louie, in China and they married on March 22, 1935 and then moved to Vancouver, B.C., bringing Wah Hoy's daughter with them. Theresa did a variety of types of work over the years, including sewing, owning and running a grocery store, working in a department store, and running an apartment block. Theresa and her father were both actively involved with the Shon Yee Benevolent Association of Canada. The interview took place in Calgary, Alberta in January of 2006 and was directed and edited by Jasmin Poon.

He lived in Didsbury and then Olds, where he built himself a tar paper shack and opened a laundry, called Star Laundry. In the early 1900s, he sent for his son, Wong Pond, and later sent for his grandson, Frank Wong. The family also opened a restaurant, called Public Lunch. Public Lunch later expanded to include a pool hall and a theatre. Jim's great grandfather on his mother's side came to Canada to work on the railway in Frazer Canyon. Jim's grandmother, Mary Wong Pond, was the first Chinese woman to attend Olds School of Agriculture, from which she graduated in 1916. Jim's mother, Irene Wong, was born in Victoria, B.C. Jim is married and has two daughters, and at the time of the interview, three grandsons.     Description: Stanley Owen Fong was born in Calgary on March 3, 1925. His father, James Fong, was born in Canton, China in 1895 and immigrated to Calgary in 1911. His grandfather, Fong Lum King, immigrated to Canada 4 or 5 years before James, and died in 1933. Stan's mother was born in 1900 in Lacombe, where her father owned a restaurant. His parents married in 1920 in Calgary. Stan's brother, Ed, was born in 1922 at the Scottish Nursing Home, and Stan was born at the General Hospital. The family lived in Calgary until 1926, when they moved to Lacombe for a couple of years to help at the restaurant. In 1928 the family moved to Wayne, where they owned a restaurant. During the depression years, Stan's father also started farming, and he sold the farm in 1945. Stan and Ed both studied engineering at univesity, for a year at the University of Alberta, and the rest of their studies were completed in Butte, Montana at the Montana School of Mines, part of the University of Montana. Stan became a Corrosion/Metallurgical Engineer, specializing in welding and corrosion control. In 1952, Stan went to Sudbury, Ontario, to work for International Nickel for 4 years. He met his first wife, Sadie, in Sudbury and they married in October of 1956. Stan married his second wife, Ming, on March 22, 1999. The interview took place in Calgary, Alberta on November 2, 2006 and was directed and edited by Leonard Lee.
